Star Trek Sequel May Be In 3D
J.J. Abrams is not the type of guy to make a movie in 3D just because a studio tells him to. So even if Paramount demands that Star Trek 2 be in 3D, don’t be surprised if he tells them where to go. The director of the original Star Trek reboot; and the upcoming Super 8 is supposed to start filming the next Captain Kirk vehicle in September, so we should know more soon.
This is coming pretty quickly considering that nothing seemed to be in the works just a month ago, so I’m excited to hear that they will star filming this year. As long as the script ends up being strong, the sequel should be as awesome as the original (and it definitely won’t need to be in 3D).
As reported by WhatsPlayingNow, Simon Pegg (Scotty) made a quite unconvincing statement about the possibility of 3D “As far as I know, no, I mean.. it depends. Maybe.”
If Star Trek 2 is in 3D then I’ll probably shell out the extra bucks to see it that way, but I won’t be crying in my pillow if Abrams just films it traditionally.
